Interview and give away with Sheila Hendrix

Please Welcome Sheila Hendrix. Shes a new to me author and stopped in to tell about her new book release .
The Betrayal

Synopsis

When Zachariah and Matthew McCannon were young, their parents abandoned them, leaving Zack to take care of his little brother, Matt. Though they lived with their grandmother, she was always sick, so Zack was forced to raise him. This was not an easy task.

Zack had his hands full because of Matt’s unusual powers. He has visions and dreams that come true, and when he gets angry or upset, he can move things with his mind. Because of this, evil seeks him, keeping Zack on his toes as his protector.

As the brothers grew older, they became hunters, pursuing evil supernatural forces. After Matthew has a dream, it sends them on a hunt for cave, not knowing why, but realizing it is necessary. When they arrive, Matt finds the vision was a trap.

A Darkness like no other wants to control Matt and kill Zack. The Darkness is named, Alanya, which means, The Destroyer.

Alanya hates the brothers. In the past, every time he tried to apprehend Matt, Zack would thwart him by protecting his brother. Alanya is incensed that a mere human boy can beat him, for demons are not to be defied.

When Alanya asks Zack, “How far will you go to save your brother?” Zack answers, “As far as I have to.”

Now, the brothers are faced with a deadly force they never had to deal with before. This demon is on a deadly mission to destroy everything the brothers hold dear. If the McCannon’s are not careful, neither of them will be able to escape.

 A Sneek Peek:
Prologue

He roamed through the night listening to the sounds of the cave around him. Taking in the scenery, he thought about his reason for being back. Pacing, he closed his eyes. He’d walked that cave a million times for a million reasons. It was his domain—where he drew his strength—also his weakness at times, for the cave was alive.

The walls carried echoes of the blood of the many people he brought there, slaughtered there. Some were necessary, some were for fun, but all, the catalyst for the ultimate reason for his return—Zachariah and Matthew McCannon.

His name was Alanya, which meant The Destroyer. He wandered the ages seeking people with special powers—gifts, some humans would say—feeding off of them. They brought him strength and power like nothing else.

Strolling to the mouth of the cave, glancing at the forest before him, he thought about the brothers and why he hated them.

People with special powers tasted different, and each person with a specific “gift” had a distinctive flavor. For generations, he had no problems stealing powers except once then Matthew McCannon became the second, along with his older brother, Zachariah.

Incensed at the mere thought of the older boy, Alanya gnashed his teeth.

He endeavored to take the younger boy since infancy, but was unsuccessful, thanks to the father. The powers of children and infants proved stronger and purer than adults, and when Matt turned nine, he attempted again, but no matter how hard he tried to take the child, ten-year-old Zack stood in his way. It made him furious to think that a mere boy could defy him and get away with it.

Alanya roared, the walls of the cave shaking with the sound. Zachariah McCannon was a pain in the ass to say the least, and Alanya hated being defied, so he came back, determined to not only take Matthew McCannon’s powers, but also the life of Zachariah McCannon, his brother. This he would accomplish slowly so he could enjoy his feat. After all, he was not called The Destroyer for nothing.

Alanya liked to play and knew the one thing to assure he acquired Matt and his powers was to break him, and the best way to do that…use Zack.

Zack was Matt’s protector and guarded him when the demon came to call, so if he got Matt to kill Zack, Matt would be easy to control. Their parents abandoned them ten years ago when they were seven and eight and Zack took it on himself to care for his younger brother.

He didn’t want to kill Matt, or even Zack—not right away—because they resisted him over and over again, and you don’t disobey Alanya and get away with it. So he planned to take his time with the brothers, causing them much pain. He smiled at what he’d do to them before he killed them, licking his lips in anticipation as he thought about Matt’s powers becoming his.

Contemplating Zack, he realized the best way to hurt him was to hurt Matt—Zack’s weakness. He’d do anything for his brother—really sickening if the demon thought about it long enough.

The ultimate betrayal for Zack would be for Matt to turn against him. He spent his life protecting the boy and if Matt turned against him, it would break Zack.

Alanya so wanted to break Zack before he killed him, because Zack always protected and took care of Matt.

Sucking in a deep breath, he turned from the mouth of the cave to gaze around his domain. Smiling, he walked into the shadows. “I’m coming.”

The Interview:
1. Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?

I actually had a nightmare. I don't scare easy but this one got to me. When I calmed down enough to think, I thought how the nightmare would make the perfect book.

2. How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children's books, etc.)?
I love teens. I like to give them something they could really enjoy. YA is pretty popular right now and when I started writing The Betrayal, I found the genre I wanted to write.

3. What kind of research did you do for this book?
I didn't really do to much research. I just had the dream and wrote it. LOL!

4. What's a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?
I'm a nurse at a psychiatric hospital. I usually work at night because that's about the only time I have to do so. I try to set a daily writing goal but sometimes life gets in the way.

5. What is the hardest part of writing for you?
Keeping the book interesting no matter what.

6. What’s the best thing about being an author?
The sense of accomplishment I had when I finished and actually had the book in my hand.

7. What are you working on now?
The Betrayal is the first book in The Dark Circle Book series. I'm working on the second, Head Games.
8. What advice would you give aspiring writers?
Don't give up.Don't let anybody tell you can't write. If you have a story to tell, tell it, no matter what. You won't be disappointed.

9. Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
My favorite authors is Nora Roberts. Heather Graham, Lisa Jackson, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Melissa Mayhue and Lynn Kurland just to name a few. There are to many to list on here.

10. What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview? How would you answer that question?
If I could make a living at writing, would I quit being a nurse? My answer, "In a heartbeat. LOL! That's actually what I'm striving to do.

11. If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

Chaos!

If you could ask your readers anything what would you ask them?
What impressed you the most about the characters?
